Utility Awareness and
Excavation Safety Training
We offer a safety training course designed
and tailored specifically to your special needs. Our experience in the
Utility locating field gives us a unique perspective on excavation safety.
Additionally our instructors have spent time digging with the same type of
equipment that you use, so we know what it is like for your crew "down in the
trenches". We can adapt our training program to cover your special needs
regardless of the type of subsurface work that you are conducting, from small
trenching operations to large earthmoving project to directional boring and
vertical drilling. We have a training solution to meet your needs.
We already conduct our own training, why
should we use you?
Our safety training program is specifically
geared towards minimizing your risk for damaging an underground utility or other
structure. Our experience with underground utilities and other structures
gives us the ability to pass along to your staff the warning signs that an
unmarked utility might be in the area and what indications they need to look for
in order to determine if there is a possible unmarked facility in the area.
Ultimately our training program can increase your efficiency and help to lower
your job costs, by having more effectively trained staff they can work faster
with fewer interruptions since they will be able to readily identify trouble
spots before they encounter them while digging.
How can you train someone to know when
there is an buried utility, are you giving us X-Ray glasses?
In a sense yes we are, while you would be
correct that we can not give someone the ability to 'see' and unmarked line, we
can train them as to what they need to be looking for on each and every dig
site. If they see something that would indicate that a line should be
present in the area, but they don't see any marks, they can then determine that
a utility locate is required before digging. We can also train your crew
to identify 'hot spots', areas which are more likely to contain a high volume of
buried lines and avoid them if possible, or get others on the crew to begin hand
digging or other safe exposure methods while they remain productive in another
area. This way you don't have an excavator idling while the operator
watches others hand dig an area, and your whole crew can remian productive and
you can increase your productivity and lower your operating costs.
